INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLANNING CYCLING TRIPS
Most of the paths (except roads) are unmarked. Before taking a cycling trip plan your route carefully and ask for information about its characteristics in the nearest tourist center (the type of the ground, ascents, descents, lengths, ect.). You should also note down the telephone number of a local taxi driver who would be willing to fetch you down in the case of the problem. According to your possibilities hire a guide or a GPS unit. You can rent a GPS unit in the following bike centers: Aldura Sport, Frimir Rent - Sutivan. There are many dead ends in impassable paths on the island of Brac (leading to the fields or the areas for cutting wood). Always take enough water with you, proper tools, a pump, a flashlight, a helmet, and a fully charged mobile phone. If your are cycling of the main roads, don't be alone. On your routes pay attention to fences (made by shepherds to keep the cattle within the certain area). You are allowed to open them but you must not forget to close them. They are sometimes difficult to notice because of the thin wire construction. |
