HIKINGBrac is not just a place to enjoy the sun and the sea. There are plenty of other things to do and one of the most interesting is hiking. There are hundreds of small, often forgotten paths, squeezed between ancient drywalls. As a starter you can take a few hours to visit all three neighboring villages. Start with Bobovisce bay, from there the walk towards Lozisce takes just 20 minutes. From Lozisce you can continue towards Bobovisce with a stop at the local Lozisce graveyard. If you continue further from Bobovisce you will reach a point from which you can see all three villages and the whole Bobovisce bay.
For those who love hiking, we can also recommend going to Vidova Gora. When you reach it by car, there are several fascinating trails you will remember your whole life. If you would like to see where the famous Brac stone comes from, stop at Donji Humac. There are several trails leading through stone quarries. Near Donji Humac there is the interesting Kopacina cave and Saint Ilia church, and also Nerezisce, the old center of the island where you can visit interesting churches and the famous natural stone arch “Kolac”. Close to Splitska there is also the newly established Herkules trail, ending in the Roman quarry "Rasohe" where stone was quarried for the construction of Diocletian's Palace in Split. |
BEACHES Brac offers all kinds of beaches, from the famous Golden Rat in Bol to countless small secluded ones hidden on the rocky shore.
In addition to the small beach just in front of Perla there are a few other interesting beaches within the Bobovisce bay. Ten minutes from Perla, along the left side of the bay, there is an old stone quarry with a pebble beach underneath. By boat you can find a few nice places on the rocky shore at the entrance of the bay. If you decide to go further there are a couple of small beaches Mala Tiha and Vela Tiha. For those beaches leave early and return before noon otherwise you will have a bumpy way back because of the afternoon “maestral” wind creating waves. If you like sandy beaches, visit Lovrecina, the big shallow bay with a crystal clear sandy bottom. Finally, do save one day for Golden Rat. The drive to reach Bol takes about one hour. From there, drive towards Rat where you will find parking. To fully enjoy the beauty of Golden Rat, it is best to choose a windy day for your trip there. CYCLINGRecently Brac became a very popular destination for cycling. During summer you can encounter a lot of cyclists, both professional and amateur. There are miles and miles of tours, easy ones and very difficult ones. We can provide a detailed map of tours, with difficulty levels. We cannot recommend this type of activity for August (unless you are a trained professional) when busy roads and extreme heat can diminish your satisfaction. Ideally, May and October are the best time to enjoy cycling. [more]
